There aren’t many people out there having a better Friday than Immanuel Quickley. Moments ago, we learned that he’ll receive a massive contract from the Toronto Raptors.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Raptors will sign Quickley to a five-year, $175 million deal.
Quickley, a former first-round pick from Kentucky, started his career with the New York Knicks. He was traded to the Raptors this past season in a deal that also included RJ Barrett and OG Anunoby
Clearly, the Raptors saw enough from Quickley in 38 games to feel comfortable giving him a massive contract. For the record, he averaged 18.6 points and 6.8 assists per game for Toronto.
Most NBA fans can’t get over how much money the Raptors just spent on Quickley. They believe it’s an overpay of the highest order.
“Holy money he’s great and all but when did he earn that much,” one fan said.
Another fan replied, “NBA money has to be Monopoly money right?”
“What an overpay,” a third fan wrote.
Quickley, 25, will get to prove that he’s worth this type of investment next season.
As for the Raptors, it’s pretty evident they believe Quickley is one of their foundational pieces for at least the next few years.
