Less than a week ago, the Toronto Raptors acquired Brandon Ingram from the New Orleans Pelicans at the NBA Trade Deadline. At the time, Ingram was on an expiring contract and was set to hit unrestricted free agency this summer. However, according to ESPN’s Shams Chrania, the two sides have agreed to a new deal that will keep Ingram on their books for multiple seasons. Per Charania, it is a three-year, $120 million contract extension.

Toronto Raptors, Former All-Star Agree to Contract Extension
Brandon Ingram’s Raptors Career Is Off to a Good Start With Contract Extension
Ingram has not appeared in a game since December 7 because of an ankle injury. Currently, there is no imminent date for his Raptors debut. Regardless, it seems that he already has gained some fans within the Raptors organization. Head coach Darko Rajaković recently spoke about Ingram being willing to accept his role on the team and respecting that (subscription required).
“I think it’s going to be a process. I think there’s going to be a lot of work that we need to put in,” Rajakovic told The Athletic at the University of Houston on Saturday. “(Ingram) is very open. He’s very willing to accept what this team is doing. And he already started using his voice with the team and talking in the film sessions. He’s opening up, which is great. I really respect that.”
Though Ingram is a former All-Star and a nine-year veteran, he will likely be the second-in-command next to Scottie Barnes. It remains unclear how well they will work alongside each other. However, it is an intriguing pairing regardless.
Additionally, Raptors president Masai Ujiri also has high hopes for Ingram.
“We see Brandon as an integral part of this team’s future. He’s an elite scorer, he has a really diverse offensive skillset, and adding him to the young core we have is huge as we continue our quest to win in Toronto.”
The Last Word On Brandon Ingram’s Contract Extension
With this new deal in place, Ingram is committed to Toronto for the foreseeable future. Currently, the Raptors are 16-37 and unlikely to make a playoff appearance this season. However, there is a lot to like about this team and where Ingram fits. The Raptors have not made the playoffs since 2022 but could end that drought within the next few seasons.
