Former: The Toronto Raptors may have suffered two losses on Saturday night vs. the Philadelphia 76ers.
Not only did the Raptors lose; they may have lost rookie Scottie Barnes to a potentially serious injury.
Barnes had to leave the game after Joel Embiid inadvertently appeared to step on Barnes’ ankle. The talented rookie immediately went to the ground in clear pain.
He eventually left the game and went back to the locker room with trainers. It’s unclear what his status is moving forward.
“Scottie Barnes is down after getting unintentionally stepped on by Joel Embiid,” TSN tweeted.

“Scottie Barnes injury update: Rolled ankle inward as in typical inversion ankle sprain. Not typical was Embiid stepped w/ full force on the mid foot applying compressive force to the bones of the mid foot. Best case: Mild ankle sprain. Worse case: Mid foot sprain or fracture.”

“Looked like Embiid stepped right on Barnes’ left foot while he was twisting into the lane. Barnes immediately went down grabbing at it, and was clearly in a ton of pain. He’s still on the ground getting looked at by trainers.”
