In an earlier-than-usual decision, the Toronto Raptors have picked up their team option for head coach Darko Rajakovic. Generally, a team waits until a year out to pick up an option, but Toronto has given Rajakovic a vote of confidence with the early pick-up.
Rajakovic will now be under contract with the Raptors for the next two seasons beyond this one. In his first two seasons, Rajakovic has gone 53-104 for the rebuilding Raptors. Toronto has been said to be pleased with how their young talent has developed under Rajakovic, and the team’s competitiveness, despite the losses.
The Raptors core of Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and Jakob Poeltl are all under contract at least through 2026-27. Brandon Ingram, who was acquired at the trade deadline, signed a three-year extension to join that core group. Ingram has yet to make his Toronto debut, as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.
