With their deal for Brandon Ingram, the Toronto Raptors have now acquired an impending free agent at the trade deadline for the fourth consecutive year, reports Danny Chau of The Ringer.
2022: Thaddeus Young
2023: Jakob Poeltl
2024: Kelly Olynyk
2025: Brandon Ingram
Young was acquired from the San Antonio Spurs in 2022 for Goran Dragic and a top-14 protected pick that became Malaki Branham at No. 20. The Raptors went on to re-sign Young to a two-year, $16 million deal in free agency.
Poeltl was also acquired from the Spurs for Khem Birch, a protected 2024 first round pick and two future second round picks. The No. 8 pick was conveyed to the Spurs in 2024 and became Rob Dillingham when the selection was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves for an unprotected 2031 first rounder as well as a pick swap in 2030. San Antonio has traded the Wolves’ pick as part of the De’Aaron Fox deal. Poeltl re-signed with the Raptors on a four-year, $80 million deal.
Olynyk was acquired by the Raptors in 2024 along with Ochai Agbaji for a 2024 first rounder that became Isaiah Collier with the No. 29 selection. Olynyk signed a two-year, $26.5 million extension with the Raptors in March.
Toronto sent out the Indiana Pacers’ top-four protected 2026 pick this week for Ingram.
