The Toronto Maple Leafs are hotter than Dua Lipa right now.
They’ve now won three in a row and 10 of their past 12 games.
With that in mind, we kicked off the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take by talking about the Four Nations Face-Off. In case you missed, the four rosters were unofficially unveiled on Wednesday, and in total, four Leafs were named (CAN – Marner, USA – Matthews, SWE – Nylander, Hakanpaa – FIN). In addition to discussing if the Leafs should even let Jani Hakanpaa play, we talked about Leafs related snubs. Who knows, we could see some guys added down the road as injury replacements.
After that, we shared some HUGE news as we announced the first EVER TLN Nation Vacation. Join us from Thursday, March 20th to Sunday, March 23rd as we take our talents to Music City to watch Toronto play Nashville. As part of the unique experience, we will also be offering up some podcast recordings at Love & Exile Winery & Bar in East Nashville. BOOK TODAY!!
Speaking of the Predators, the Leafs edged Nashville 3-2 on Wednesday night at Scotiabank Arena. Auston Matthews potted two goals while Mitch Marner racked up another three helpers. Additionally, Joseph Woll made 22 stops for his sixth consecutive victory. Meantime, Fraser Minten had another strong outing while Ryan Reaves returned from his five-game suspension. Circling back to Marner, though, he’s been incredible this season, and without question, he’s putting himself in position to get PAID. How much credit does Craig Berube deserve?
After that, we played another edition of TAKE IT OR LEAF IT. Among the talking points: 1) At least 1 more Maple Leaf will be announced as an injury replacement for the Four Nations Face-Off, 2) A Maple Leafs goalie will finish top 5 in Vezina voting, and 3) Ryan Reaves will play at least 40 more games this season. As per usual, it was a spirited debate.
Lots coming on the Friday edition of Leafs Morning Take. In addition to teeing up this weekend’s back-to-back, Dylan Strome of the Washington Capitals will join us.
