I thought I’d ask what you would like to see from the Jays over the last 39 games of the season. I mean, other than a 39-game win streak that puts them into the playoffs (not that I’d complain).
Buck was talking about how important it would be to get to .500. I don’t care. If we aren’t making the playoffs, I’m ok with getting a higher draft pick. I don’t want to tank, but only six teams are worse than us. I’d be happy to get a sixth pick next year (the White Sox aren’t part of the lottery for reasons I don’t understand). There is a lottery, and we could move up or back, but the odds are we’d be around the sixth pick.
- I’d like John to show that we could put someone else in the leadoff spot. I don’t think Springer’s ego is so fragile that you can’t move him down. I’d be ok with giving George a couple of days off a week to look at the other guys more.
- I’d like Jake Bloss called up. I want to see him pitch. Maybe move to a six-man rotation or piggyback him with someone. He hasn’t been throwing deep into games lately, so there would likely be a pitch limit.
- I’d like Addison Barger to get more playing time. It seems he only plays against lefty pitchers, which is hardly fair. Let him have the platoon edge for a bit. If Leo Jiménez (he’s day-to-day) is out for a bit, there should be more room for Addison.
- I don’t need to see Vlad at third anymore. It is okay in an emergency, but I think we have three or four guys I’d rather see at the position. I’d be okay with him DHing more so we can see Horwitz at first a bit more.
- Of course, I’d love them to announce a contract for Vlad (I’d also love to see him carry this hot hitting through to the end of the season).
- It would be good to continue playing Loperfido. I want to see how he deals with the slump and if he can work out of it.
- And, of course, continue to play Will Wagner. His play at second seems reasonable enough. He’s not going to continue to hit .533. I’d like to see how he does when he goes hitless for a couple of games.
- Bo is coming back, and it would be great if he remembered how to hit and devised a plan to prevent these leg issues from happening again.
- Trying out all the bullpen arms will be part of the season’s last month and a half. Who makes the club next year and how many arms we need to add are high on the list of things to do.
- I feel bad about it, but I think Davis Schneider might need to go to Buffalo and get regular playing time again. We are short of right-handed bats, but he hadn’t been a lefty killer (.582 OPS vs, LHP, .678 vs. RHP)
Today’s lineup, complete with silly nicknames. Of course, a lot of us have silly nicknames on the site too. I wonder what happened to that Rincewind guy. I liked him.
