We are finally coming to the end of this series with the Red Sox. It seems to have been going on for a long, long time. But a win tonight would give us either a series win or a series draw. I’m not going to try to figure out which.
There isn’t much news at the moment, which makes it harder to write, but The one thing that caught my attention was that was said on the Blair and Barker show:
“Bo is a great player when Bo is having fun… That part of it – somewhere it got lost here in Toronto.”

For me, this is a chicken and egg thing. Players are happy when they play well. They are less happy when they aren’t playing well. I’m sure we are all the same. After being away on holiday, I played tennis for the first time in a month and a half, and I’d played terribly. And I hated it and was in a crappy mood. Yesterday, I hit the ball well, and I loved the game.
I’m sure we are all the same. It is easy to have fun when you are playing well. And sometimes if you are playing poorly and show fun, announcers/fans get bad. Jose Reyes was run out of won by Jerry Howarth because Howarth hated that he was happy and smiling on the bench when he wasn’t playing well, and had made a costly error.
I always say that if you paid me millions of dollars to play baseball, I’d be smiling all the time, but of course, that isn’t true. If I was playing badly, I’d likely be a miserable person.
Vlad said, the other day, that when he is having fun and is happy, he will play better. Again I’m sure that’s true. But then he seems happy all the time. He seemed happy when he wasn’t hitting at the start of the season. He looks the same now.
Speaking of Bo:
Bo Bichette (right calf) did agility drills on the field at Fenway Park today. Said it went well. Taking grounders on the field again in a few minutes. Jays not rushing this but pleased with progress.
