We have NLDS games today:
- Phillies @ Mets: 5:00 Eastern.
- Dodgers @ Padres: 9:00 Eastern.
All the series in both leagues are tied at a game each. I enjoyed yesterday’s games; I’m always happy when the Yankees lose. The other game was tied at 0 until the top of the ninth. It was good to see Matt Boyd have a successful start.
Luis Tiant passed away. He was 83. He had a 19 year MLB career, going 229-172 with a 3.30 ERA in 573 games, 484 starts, 187 complete games. I thought he would be a Hall of Famer, but the voters didn’t.
Born in Cuba, he’s likely the best Cuban born MLB player in history.
He had the strangest windup you will ever see. He turned enough for the batter to see his number and then spun back around and threw. I would have been scared to be in the batter’s box, but he never hit more than eight batters in a season. Here, see for yourself. He was one of those guys you had to try to copy, but that spin was kind of hard on my knee.
Here, see for yourself:

There isn’t anything Blue Jays related that I’m interested in enough to write about and I have a busy day, so let’s use this as an open thread to discuss anything you’d like. And as a thread for the playoff games.
