It was Kim’s final day of eligibility to sign, as his posting would have ended tomorrow and he would’ve spent the 2025 season in the Korean Baseball Organization. Instead, the Dodgers added another free agent, making the reigning World Series champions even stronger.
Last season with the Kiwoom Heroes of the KBO, Kim slashed .326/.383/.458 with a career-best 11 home runs in 567 plate appearances, with an 8.3 BB% and a 10.9 K% for a 118 wRC+. His career year came in 2023, where he slashed .335/.396/.446 with seven home runs in 621 plate appearances, with a 9.2 BB% and a 12.4 K% for a 137 wRC+.
For his career in the KBO, Kim slashed .304/.364/.403 with 37 home runs in 3,819 plate appearances with a 13.7 K% and an 8.5 BB%. Kim has mainly played second base throughout his career and has committed 69 errors in 5156.2 innings at the keystone.
As for the Dodgers, they are coming off the heels of a World Series win in late October and have only solidified their position as the top team in baseball. It started off with a bang, signing left-handed starter Blake Snell to a five-year deal, before extending Tommy Edman to a five-year deal.
They signed Michael Conforto, who once hit 33 home runs, to a cheap one-year deal and signed reliever Blake Treinen to a two-year deal. They also re-signed former Blue Jay Teoscar Hernández, who’ll play right field while Conforto will play left field. The Dodgers are also seen as the front-runners to sign Rōki Sasaki, one of the best young pitchers in the game. Great.
