The Jays missed out on two more free agents:
- Teoscar Hernandez signed back with the Dodgers. He’s getting three years and $66 million, which is slightly below what Ben Clemens from Fangraphs figured he’d gets (three years and $72 million). I’m not surprised that he would go back to LA. I’d go back to where I got a World Series ring.
- Corbin Burnes signed with the Diamondbacks for $210 million over six years. The Jays and the Giants offered more money, but Burnes is from Phoenix. And taxes are low there.
The Jays will have to look to other players. Anthony Santander and Alex Bergman are still available.
This has been a depressing off-season.
