Blue Jays Sign Veteran Reliever Yimi García
The Blue Jays will gain a solid bullpen arm who had an amazing start to the 2024 season before landing on the IL. He recorded a 0.53 ERA across 17 innings of relief work. As a high-leverage pitcher, García put out several quality outings, even before pitching for the Blue Jays. In 2021, he was dominant as the closer for the Marlins, sporting a 3.47 ERA and 15 saves. García was also impressive in the shortened 2020 season, making 14 appearances with an ERA of 0.60.
He’s been highly recognized as a prime rescue man in the bullpen. The 2025 season for García will be a true test for the veteran as he looks to make a comeback. He has a fastball that has been known to be a secret weapon that fools hitters. His great extension with his delivery helps make his fastball such an effective pitch. García was continuously recognized for his clutch dominance when he pitched for the Blue Jays, so it comes as no surprise that he chose Toronto to help recapture his old form.
