It is New Year’s Day, so I’ve considered resolutions and wondered if others still do them. I generally make them, but the follow-through doesn’t always happen. Sometimes it does. Sometimes…..
This year?
- The usual ‘get in shape’ thing is an evergreen. I’m in pretty good shape. I play tennis and squash a lot. But I do this MS Ride every year and have to be in a different shape for it (if you want to donate click here). The last couple of years have gone well (better than most years), but I’d like to be a little better. I’m not great on hills, I make it up, but I’m slower than I’d like.
- I have a room in the basement where some of my guitars live. It has become the room to throw stuff into, so there is no room left to move in there. So, I plan to clean it out and make it a room where I can play guitar again. I figure a bag of garbage out every couple of days, and I could have it shaped up in a month. Or a year.
- But the main one is… I want to stop saying yes to things that I know I won’t like doing. I say yes because it is in the future and think, ‘That’s a problem for future me.’ But, at least to this point, the future has always happened, and then I get mad at past me for making me do whatever it was. I think I’ve reached the age where I should be able to say, ‘No, that doesn’t sound like fun; I’m not doing it.’
Anyway, it is your turn.
