Every affiliate losing their game is never a good thing.
On Saturday, all four affiliate teams were in action, with the Dunedin Blue Jays playing a doubleheader. Sadly, all five games saw the Blue Jays’ affiliate lose.
Let’s dig into all of that in the latest Minor League Report
Buffalo’s losing streak hit six games
The Buffalo Bisons fell 9-5 to the Durham Bulls, moving their second-half record to 21-35, last in the International League East.
Surprisingly, the Bisons totaled 13 hits, with Alan Roden and Damiano Palmegiani hitting extra-base hits, Roden his second triple in Triple-A and Palmegiani his 15th double at the level. Moreover, Roden had a two-hit performance, while Palmegiani and Rafael Lantigua each had three hits. Other players with a single were Josh Kasevich, Riley Tirotta, Jonatan Clase, Nick Raposo, and Michael Turconi.

James Kaprielian made the start for the Bisons, giving up nine earned runs and four home runs over four innings pitched. Easton Lucas struck out four in two innings pitched, while Luis Frías struck out a batter in his inning of work. Jimmy Burnette also pitched a scoreless inning.
New Hampshire shutout in low scoring affair
The bats were quiet in the New Hampshire Fisher Cats’ defeat to the Altoona Curve on Saturday, as they fell 1-0 with just four hits in the game. Sadly, the Fisher Cats are now on a seven-game losing streak.
Those hits were all singles, as Charles McAdoo, Rainer Nuñez, Robert Brooks, and Josh Rivera all reached base with a single. Nuñez and Rivera also walked once each. Funnily enough, the Curve were held to just two hits and three walks in this game.
With that being said, the pitching was solid. Abdiel Mendoza pitched five innings, giving up an earned run, two walks, and three strikeouts. Nick Fraze had a walk and a strikeout in two innings pitched, while Adrián Hernández pitched a clean inning.
Vancouver lost a crucial game
The Vancouver Canadians lost 5-2 on Saturday, bringing their second-half record to 34-26. More importantly, they fell to the Hillsboro Hops for the fourth consecutive game, meaning their cushion to make the Northwest League Championship Series now sits at just three games.
Four of the Canadians’ six hits were doubles, as Jace Bohrofen had two doubles, Je’Von Ward hit a double, and Adrian Pinto also hit a double (and a single). Jackson Hornung had the other single in the game.
Grant Rogers made the start, finishing with a line of 5 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 2 K to bring his ERA in High-A to 3.69. Alex Amalfi pitched two innings, striking out three but giving up an earned run. Geison Urbaez pitched a clean inning with a strikeout in this game as well.
Dunedin swept in doubleheader
The Dunedin Blue Jays lost both games of the doubleheader on Saturday, bringing their second-half record to 29-29. With just one more series remaining, the Fisher Cats are well out of the race with the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels and Lakeland Tigers playing against one another in the final series of the season.
Game one saw the D-Jays lose 6-1, with Yhoangel Aponte hitting his fifth home run while Tucker Toman hit a single. Those were the only two hits in the game. Eminen Flores had a rough outing, giving up six earned runs in 3.2 innings pitched. Christian Mracna struck out three in an inning and two thirds, while Bennett Flynn struck out two in an inning and two thirds.

The second game was more competitive, as the D-Jays fell 10-7. They hit two home runs in this game, as Nick Mitchell hit his third professional home run and had a three-hit game, while Eddie Micheletti Jr. hit his second professional home run. Sean Keys hit his third triple of the season, while he and Micheletti Jr. each had two hits. The other players with a single were Arjun Nimmala and Edward Duran.
Samuel Colmenares started his first game in Single-A, giving up six earned runs in two thirds of an inning. Eliander Alcalde pitched the bulk of the inning, giving up three earned runs, three walks, and three strikeouts in 3.1 innings pitched. Yondrei Rojas also pitched, giving up an earned run and striking out a batter in two innings of work.
