All six Blue Jays affiliates were in action on Saturday.
It was a solid day in the organization, as the six teams went 3-3, with one team picking up their first win of the season, and another team picking up a fantastic comeback.
Let’s dig into all of that in the latest Minor League Report!
The big inning doomed Buffalo
The Buffalo Bisons fell 9-3 on Saturday, bringing their season record to 31-31. They took the lead early in the game, but allowed the Lehigh Valley IronPigs to score five runs in the bottom of the second.
Buffalo scored on the first pitch of the game, as lead-off hitter Steward Berroa hit his sixth home run of the season. Suddenly, he’s become a player worth watching in the Jays organization. Orelvis Martinez hit the other extra-base hit, his 11th double of the season, while also hitting a single. Addison Barger also had a multi-hit day, while Brian Serven picked up the team’s other hit.

Devonte Brown hit his sixth home run of the season and has been one of New Hampshire’s best hitters this season. Also in contention for that title is Alan Roden, who hit his 11th double and had a multi-hit performance. Zach Britton hit his eighth double, and Miguel Hiradlo hit his fifth double.

Vancouver picks up the late-inning comeback
It’s been a rough season for the usually dominant Vancouver Canadians, but Saturday’s game could be a turning point. Down 7-0 in the top of the seventh, they went on to score eight innings in the final three frames to win 8-7 and move their record to 25-26.
Nick Goodwin is one of the breakout players in the organization, as the hit-first shortstop hit his seventh home run of the season to kickstart Vancouver’s comeback.

New signee Jamari Baylor hit the biggest home run of the season for the Canadians, a three-run shot in the top of the ninth with an out, completing the miraculous comeback. It’s his second of the season.

Despite the win, it was a low-hitting affair, as there were only three hits on the day. There wasn’t a bigger one than Juan Rosas’ first professional homer in the top of the seventh, the final inning of this game. Other players with a hit were Angel Guzmán and Juarlin Soto.
