The Jays made a roster move (with just five games left in the season).
- Easton Lucus has been called up from the Bisons.
- Zach Pop has been optioned to the Spring Training Complex (everything has a complex these days).
Pop has pitched in 58 games for the Jays. He’s has a 5.59 ERA, with 1 save. Batters are hitting .243/.317/.422 against him. He’s not been all that bad in September, with batters hitting .174/.345/.348 in 9 games.
Lucas was one of our several waiver claims, here in the second half of this doomed season. He wasn’t great with the Tigers and A’s this year, with a 10.29 ERA in 7 innings split between the two teams. But he has a 1.37 ERA in 19.2 innings at Buffalo. He has allowed 8 hits, with 5 walks and 21 strikeouts, so he’s likely earned another shot at the majors.
He is left-handed and turned 28 yesterday.
Welcome Easton. I own a glove with your name written on it, so I’m expecting you to be great.
