Had to figure that Easton Lucas was unlikely to get another start. He’s been optioned to Buffalo and LHP Josh Walker has been called up.
Walker has pitched 7 innings in Buffalo, with a 2.57 ERA. He’s allowed 6 hits, 4 walks with 10 strikeouts. He isn’t a possibility for a starting spot. Walker has thrown 22.1 innings in the MLB over two seasons, with a 6.45 ERA, 12 walks and 23 strikeouts in 22.1 innings. Walker throws hard, averaging 94.1 mph on his fastball last year. He also throws a curve and a slider.
The Jays have some off-days, and they can use the other starters and have them pitch on normal rotation. I thought that would be a good idea when Max Scherzer first when on the IL, but they don’t listen to me.
Scherzer had another cortisone shot and joined the team in Houston. He was throwing the ball some this afternoon:
As expected Max Scherzer (right thumb) has rejoined the team here in Houston and is out throwing. Scherzer received a second cortisone shot, this time in the knuckle area, hoping to help alleviate the discomfort in his thumb. #BlueJays pic.twitter.com/bQ6rFaAWXj

Pete Walker said Scherzer felt it went, “OK.”

Tonight’s game is an 8:00 Eastern start, just so we can get interested in the hockey before reluctantly turning back to baseball.
The lineup. Gimenez drops one spot in the order. Yeah, that will make things so much better. Springer hits cleanup. No Barger today.
