I figured this would be coming, but the Jays have ‘parted ways’ with Guillermo Martinez.
Martinez has been with the Jays for six seasons.
He was hired in 2012 as a minor league hitting and infield coach. After the 2018 season, he became hitting coach, taking Brook Jacoby’s spot.
The last couple of seasons haven’t gone well for our hitters. I don’t know that Martinez is to blame, but it is easy to fire a hitting coach.
He wasn’t the only one working with the hitters. Don Mattingly was the offense coordinator, and Hunter Mense and Matt Hague were assistants.
I’m curious to see how this all shakes out over the next little while.
