Braves 8 Jays 4
Easton Lucas didn’t allow a run in his first two starts. He threw 10.1 innings, allowing 4 hits, 3 walks and 11 strikeouts. Tonight, well, there was a course correction. He went 5 innings, allowing 6 hits, 8 earned, 4 walks, 3 strikeouts with 3 home runs. His ERA went from 0 to 4.70.
To be honest, this is closer to what I expected from him, but I’ll hope he’s back to putting up zeros in his next start.
Jacob Barnes and Yariel Rodriguez threw two scoreless innings each.
On offense, we had just 5 hits (the Braves had just 6 hits, but 3 were home runs). Our first didn’t come until the sixth inning when Myles Straw led off with a home run. We got two more in the eighth: Alan Roden singles, Straw walked, and an out later, Tyler Heineman doubled. And one in the ninth, Anthony Santander doubled, and Ernic Clement singled him home.
The top of our order went 1 for 12. Bo was 0 for 4 with 3 strikeouts. Vlad was also 0 for 4, but did make hard contact, but he kept finding gloves. Vlad, if you hit the ball over the fence, gloves won’t be an issue.
No Jays of the Day today. Barnes had the high mark at .003.
Other Award: Lucas (-.313). The whole offense (minus Straw) deserves an honourable mention.
Tomorrow’s will be a better game. Kevin Gausman (1-1, 2.33) vs. Spencer Schwellenbach (1-0, 0.45).
People who come to baseball games to scream through them should be banned from the ballpark.
