The Jays have claimed Tyler Heineman off waivers from the Red Sox.
Heineman was up and down with the Blue Jays a couple of times last year. He hit .276/.432/.379 in 37 plate appearances with the Jays. In his five-year MLB career, he’s played in 106 games and has a .216/.297/.280 batting line. He had 3 PA with the Red Sox this year. He is 33 years old.
Brian Serven is being DFAed to make room on the active and 40-man rosters. He hit .159/.243/.222 in 71 PA with the Jays.
I guess we will find out if Bowden Francis can be successful throwing a catcher who isn’t Serven. I’m not a big fan of personal catchers
Welcome back, Tyler.
Sorry to see you go, Brian.
