It’s the Phillies today at TD Ballpark. Max Scherzer takes his second turn of the spring, while Taijuan Walker debuts for Philadelphia.
In addition to Walker, a couple of former Jays farmhands will play for Philly today. Cal Stevenson was a 10th round pick in 2018 before being shipped to Houston in the Derek Fisher deal. He’s since bounced around a few organizations, and gotten cups of coffee with the A’s and Giants before joining the Phillies last year. Rafael Lantigua spent eight seasons in the Jays system before departing in minor league free agency this past winter and catching on with the Phillies.
For their part the Jays will run out something resembling their opening day roster, although with Daulton Varsho still restricted to DHing and so Steward Berroa in centre field.
