A couple minor news items from John Schneider’s press conference this morning:
- Max Scherzer will pitch in a minor league game tomorrow or Tuesday, and if all goes well will rejoin the rotation.
- They’re nearing a final decision on Daulton Varsho. It sounds like the most likely outcome is a brief IL stint to finish off his rehab, they’re leaning against DH’ing him to start the season. He’s throwing from 120 feet now, though, and it doesn’t seem like they expect it to be long before he’s back in CF.
After a two game skid, the Jays are just half a game up on Boston in the pursuit of the Golden Grapefruit.* The Braves are in town today. Grant Holmes, who it looks like they’re stretching out to start, will go for Atlanta, while Jose Berrios represents the home team.
