The Jays announced that Kevin Gausman will ‘most likely’ pitch Friday, but they aren’t saying who starts tomorrow.
They also made a minor trade. Nick Robertson, a 26-year-old RHP who pitched an inning for us last year, was traded to the Astros for Edinson Batista, a 22-year-old RHP, who pitched in A+ last year. He’s been assigned to the Vancouver Canadians.
Robertson was DFAed at the start of the season to make room on the 40-man.
The Jays gave out some news on some of their injured players:
- Max Scherzer had a cortisone shot in his injured hand. He seems to think things are going as well as they could, but there is still no timeline, and the team figures he’ll need rehab time to regain strength.
- Erik Swanson will pitch off a mound Friday.
- Ryan Burr will do the same soon.
- Daulton Varsho hit BP and made 150-foot throws. They think he’ll be able to make throws from the outfield by the middle of the month.
Today’s lineup. Springer’s back in CF. Clement at third. Wagner DH. And Jose Berrios tries to show his opening day troubles were a one-time thing.
