The last road game of the season. It hasn’t been a run season, but at least we aren’t White Sox fans (they lost their 119th game yesterday). It is a 1:40 Eastern start time.
Ryan Burr gets the start. It would nice if he would go 2 innings. Ryan Yarbrough will be the bulk guy. And then it is Johny Wholestaff.
No Springer today. He’s hitting .246/.318/.298 with just two extra-base hits in September. I don’t know what’s going on. Perhaps 35 is the new 45? I honestly don’t know what I’d do if I ran the team. He has two year left on his huge contract.
We’ll see how things go I guess. If he hit’s like this next year, there would have to be a conversation about releasing him and eating the contract.
He’s hitting lefties (.190/.308/.281) worse that right-handers (.228/.301/.400), so he really doesn’t work as a platoon player. In his career he has hit lefties a little better than righties, this year might be a sample size thing.
I am sure there were a number of triples where the runner stopped at a base and then continued, so I would think there were slowed triples. Of course, now I want to run the bases from home to third and see how I’d do.
It took Alejandro Kirk 14.28 seconds to run from home to 3rd on his first career MLB triple.
