We have a weekday day game today, which I typically hate.
I’m having an interesting time. My wife belongs to a hiking group, and they are having an end-of-season trip to the Crownest Pass area for some hiking and socializing. I figured I’d go along and watch the games at the inn where we are staying.
As it turns out, this place is a little out of town and has no WiFi. Nor TVs. I describe it as the place where every slasher movie is shot. The term rustic doesn’t do it justice. The buildings look like many small-town museums blew up, and all their stuff landed here. Old-time suitcases piled over here, old-time pots and pans piled over there. I counted a dozen washing boards in one corner. Old books, magazines, posters, all sorts of junk all over. Every inch of wall space is covered with signs or old license plates. Outside our room, there are a bunch of old-time sewing machines.
The doors to the rooms don’t lock or, for that matter, close. The front door of the ‘house’ we are staying in, with several others, doesn’t lock from the inside (though there is a lock on the outside, I guess, to make it easier for the slasher to get us). A handful of solar panels power the place, so they only turn lights on in used areas. And even if you are where lights are on, it is gloomy.
It seems like a place Norman Bates looked at and said, ‘Nah, too creepy’.
So, we decided to come into town and camp out at a coffee shop for a bit.
Anyway, today’s lineup. August AL Pitcher of the Month starts for the Jays. I’m hoping we hold the Phillies to fewer than 10 runs.
Go Jays Go.
