Ryan Burr gets the start tonight, probably with Ryan Yarborough following as a bulk guy. That’s not ideal as a way to win a ballgame, but it’s necessary because the Jays are approaching the midpoint of an 18 games in 17 days stretch with a double header on Monday. Slipping a bullpen day in now allows Jose Berrios and Yariel Rodriguez to start the double header on extra and regular rest, respectively. The team understandably doesn’t want to push their staff on short rest in a meaningless series, especially Rodriguez who’s just stretching back out after years in the bullpen and has been hurt already this season, and if you must do a bullpen game it’s better against the punchless Angels than a really solid Boston lineup. The joys of nursing a scrapped roster through the end of a lost season…
