Recent roster transactions at the MLB Winter Meetings has resulted in some changes to the Toronto Blue Jays Roster Tree Route Map, including the introduction of a new line! (See enlarged map here.)
The Giménez–Sandlin Line
On December 10, the Blue Jays acquired infielder Andrés Giménez and reliever Nick Sandlin from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for infielder Spencer Horwitz and minor league outfielder Nick Mitchell.
- Having been acquired in the same trade, the players coming to Toronto are depicted as a double-barrelled station name, GIMÉNEZ–SANDLIN.
- Horwitz was a regular draft pick, so Horwitz is a terminus on a spur line.
- Mitchell, on the other hand, was a fourth-round compensation draft pick tied to the loss of Matt Chapman to free agency, so the line continues.
- The new yellow line terminates at Hoglund–Logue–Smith–Snead, representing Gunnar Hoglund, Zach Logue, Kevin Smith, and Kirby Snead, all former regular draft picks who were sent to the Oakland Athletics in the Chapman trade.
The Clase–García Loop
On December 13, the Blue Jays signed reliever Yimi García to a two-year contract.
- Usually, a free agent signing would result in a simple square station being added to the map. However, because Toronto acquired outfielder Jonatan Clase from the Seattle Mariners for García, a small loop was created. CLASE is linked to GARCÍA 1, which is connected to GARCÍA 2 on the main line.
Other Changes
- BASTARDO was added to the network when the Jays selected starter Angel Bastardo from the Red Sox system in the Rule 5 draft on December 12.
- RAPOSO was removed from the roster tree when catcher Nick Raposo was designated for assignment on December 13.
