It isn’t much news, but it is news.
Genesis Cabrera is leaving the team to go on the Paternity list. He can miss up to three games.
Tommy Nance, an RHP, was picked up from the Padres just yesterday for ‘cash considerations.’ He’s pitched 62 games in the MLB, split between the Cubs and the Marlins (in 2021 and 2022, respectively). He had a 5.47 ERA in those games. Then he had a mid-90s fastball, but he’s been working his way back from an arm injury, so he might not be throwing as hard.
FanGraphs throws a curve, cutter and slider as well as the fastball.
This year, he pitched for the Padres’ Triple-A team in El Paso. He had a 4.05 ERA in 26 games and 33.1 innings, with 8 walks and 35 strikeouts.
