The Toronto Blue Jays dropped the Saturday game late in the contest, with questionable bullpen decisions leading to some late runs from the Mets that eventually sunk the Blue Jays. The bats were silent as well, leading to just two runs on the day (and the series), which is a tough ask to back up against a tough team like the Mets.
Toronto will look to reverse their fortunes this afternoon, looking to put up a win before moving on to face the Boston Red Sox for a four-game set starting tomorrow.
Bowden Francis will get the ball for the Blue Jays, looking to build upon his impressive first outing with the squad. He tossed five innings of no-hit ball before Nationals batters CJ Abrams and James Wood homered to break the no-hit bid and put two runs on the board, with the right-hander adding three walks and four K’s on the day.

Opposite Francis today will be left-hander David Peterson, who made his debut against the Miami Marlins and went six innings and allowed just five hits and two earned runs (both home runs) while walking three. Peterson struck out nine Marlins on the day and hit 89 pitches.
On the sticks, the Jays still have not had a home run from Bichette, Guerrero, and Santander, while Alejandro Kirk slots into the lineup today as the DH, the first time this season he has suited up without it being behind the plate. George Springer will be out of the lineup after crashing into the wall late in last night’s game, with Santader playing in right, Myles Straw in centre, and Davis Schneider in left.
