The Maple Leafs announced Wednesday that they’ve assigned defenseman Dakota Mermis to AHL Toronto on an LTIR conditioning loan. Mermis, 30, played some preseason hockey for Toronto but broke his jaw and underwent surgery on Sep. 26.
